The Lady Buffs golf team met victory for the second time in a row on Sept. 27 after competing in the Lady Buffs Stampede Invitational Tournament.

Head Coach Meredith Jameson said this win combined with their win at the Colorado Christian University Invitational on Sept. 11- 13 marks the best start to a season the Lady Buffs golf team has ever had.

“In golf, it’s not like other sports…where you play one team when you go,” Jameson said. “There were eight or nine teams in the first tournament and 10 in the second. When you win, you’re beating more the one team, so a win is a big deal.” Continue reading

Lady Buffs golf finishes up fall schedule in Okla.

The WTAMU Lady Buff golf team finished up their fall schedule Oct. at the Cameron Invitational held at the Lawton Country Club in Lawton, Okla.

WT came away with an eighth place overall finish as a team.

Leading the way for the Lady Buffs was freshman Alisa White who finished in a tie for 16th place.  Fellow Freshman Vanessa Spradlin wasn’t far behind, finishing tied for 19th place.

Juniors Hammerli Sriyai and Sara Cole finished tied for 30th and 56th respectively. 

Freshman Macy Davis rounded out the finishing for the Lady Buffs with a 70th place finish overall.

This was the last tournament of the fall for the Lady Buff golf team. 

Lady Buff golf competes at DBU Classic

The WTAMU women’s golf team finished up play Oct. 19 at the Dallas Baptist Classic held at the Golf Club of Dallas in Dallas, Texas.

WT’s team finished in fifth place.

Freshman Alisa White was the top finisher for WT finishing in a tie for ninth place.

Junior Sara Cole tied for 24th.  Following closely behind was fellow junior Hammerli Sriyai who tied for 26th place.  Freshmen Macy Davis and Vanessa Spradlin finished tied for 32nd and 46th place .

The Lady Buffs compete at the Cameron Invitational Oct. 25-26 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Buffs place fourth in Amarillo

The WTAMU men’s golf team finished play on Oct. 12 at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational held at the Tascosa Golf Course in Amarillo, Texas.

WT finished fourth overall in the team standings.

Freshman Blake Crowder led the way for the Buffs finishing in ninth place.  This is Crowder’s first top-ten finish of the season.

Junior Ben Hargis finished in 15th place for WT.  Following close behind were Freshman Logan Leggett and Junior Chad Cavallaro who tied for 20th.  Freshman Colt Melton tied for 36th overall.  Junior Chris Keirns tied for 45th place. 

Other individuals competing for WT were freshmen Danny Walker and Blake Fulton who finished in 59th and 62nd place overall. 

The Buffs compete October 25-26 at the Bruce Williams Memorial in San Antonio, Texas.

Men’s Golf Competes in Oklahoma

The WTAMU Men’s golf team tied for 10th place Sept. 21 at the Northeastern State University Golf Classic.

The tournament, held at the Emerald Falls Country Club in Broken Arrow, Okla., included participants such as Southeastern Oklahoma, the team that tied with WT.

Freshman Ben Hargis was the top finisher for WT with a tie for 12th place. Another Freshman Logan Leggett finished in a tie for 28th place.

Some other golfers to place included Freshman Colt Melton who finished tied for 52nd, with Senior Jordan Jeffers and Junior Chris Keirns tying for 68th place.

The Buffs compete at the Buffalo Invitational, which will be held at Tascosa Country Club October 11-12th.
